- Niels (Nicolaus) Skarsholm, Count (Greve) of N?rre-Halland, was born in 1218, and married three times: to the daughter of Otto af Ravensberg, to a woman known only as "Slegfred", and to Cecilie Johansdatter/Jensdatter.
Both of Niels' parents died while he was an infant, and King Valdemar Sejr became Niels' guardian. In 1226 the king took advantage of this situation and seized Niels' landholdings in Schwerin (in Billungmark, Germany). This action prompted Henrik, Count of Schwerin, to attack Ly? and imprison King Valdemar. At his release the king had to relinquish his claim to the Schwerin landholdings, and as compensation give to Niels ownership of N?rre-Halland. Niels died in 1251 and was buried in Sor? Abbey.
