- Maturin/Mathurin du Pont is recorded as being "Kongens Vognmester" (the Royal Transportation Overseer) on November 15, 1655. On January 1, 1660 he is recorded as the "Tolder" (Customs Officer) for Ribe, and in 1661 as "vores forrige Vognmester, nu Tolder i Ribe" (our previous Transportation Overseer, now Customs Officer in Ribe). Maturin du Pont is recorded as the customs officer for Ribe again on June 10, 1670, and on May 1, 1671 his "l?n var 200 Rdlr. aarlig, har hans lange tjennte yderligere 100 Rdlr. aarlig" and again in 1672.
"Rentemester Henrik M?ller: en studie over enev?ldens etablering i Danmark" by Johan J?rgensen (pub. 1966) mentions on page 183 that "i Ribe, karakteristisk nok en hoftjenestemand, Maturin Dupont, der 1632 var blevet ensp?nder, 1638 kvartermester og 1644 fourer. Dupont medbragte yderligere den kvalifikation til embedet, hans tilgodehavende hos staten ved udn?vnelsen var assigneret netop i Ribe told" (in Ribe, characterize as a court official, Maturin Dupont, who was mentioned in 1632 as a courier, in 1638 as a quartermaster, and in 1644 as quartermaster for the court. Dupont had more qualifications for office, he received by appointment from the state an assignment in Ribe at the customs office).
On March 23, 1675 "konf. Kongen hans brev af 2 pisted 1665 (dat. Ribe), herefter hans datter Berete Katrine Colnet, gift med Major Robbertz, eft. hans sl. kone Sisillien Dupont skal arve lige med sin br?dre og ligeledes efter hans igen d?d skal dele lige med sine to br?dre" (confirmed the king with his letter of '2 pisked' [= 2 P?skedag? = March 27; or 2 Pinsedag? = May 15] 1665 (dated Ribe), hereafter his daughter Birgitte Cathrine Colnet, wife of Major Robert, after his late wife Cecilie du Pont should inherited with her brothers and also after his death again be evenly divided with her two brothers).
In "Samlinger til jydsk historie og topografi" (page 42, published 1890) there is mention in 1687 of "En L?jtnant du Pont, rimeligvis en s?n af den forhenv?rende Tolder i Ribe, Maturin du Pont, havde en 14 dage tidligere sagt til Wittroch, at Wulff havde talt et og andet 'Sladderi' om ham, hvorfor han siden den tid havde afsondret sig s? meget som muligt fra hans selskab" (A Lieutenant du Pont, probably a son of the former customs officer in Ribe, Maturin du Pont, had 14 days earlier told Wittroch, that Wulff had been saying a few slanderous things about him, therefore he has since that time secluded himself as much as possible from his company).
"Personalhistorisk tidsskrift 1889", volume 4, states the following: 3. Bind, S. 287, Anm. 2. Robert Colnet ?gtede 1660 en Datter af kgl. Tolder i Ribe Mathurin Dupont og Ingeborg Friis, d?d 1677. (Sj?ll. Reg. 25, 8.) [Note that the assertion that Robert Colnet's wife is the daughter of Ingeborg Friis has been proven to be incorrect.]
"S?nderjydske aarb?ger" (published 1991) states on page 106: o.1666 Ribe domkirke, epitafium over Mathurin du Pont, tolder (+ 1681) og 1. hustru Cecilie S?dtz (+1665). St. Katharin? Church has a set of rare altar candlesticks from about 1550 of turned oak. The 47 cm. high candlesticks is of gothic design and are in the church basement. Additionally, the church has a set of altar candlesticks in brass from 1670, 44 cm. high, donated by the customs officer Maturin du Pont and his second wife, Ide Grave. The candlesticks read "A. 1670 Zu Gottes Ehre there Kirchen zur Gaben Maturin D? Pont und Seine Liebste Ide D? Pont diese Zweene Altar L?chter S. Cathrin Kirche Vor Ehret", which translates as: "In the year 1670 has Maturin du Pont and his beloved Ide du Pont bestowed Saint Katharin? Church the altar candlesticks to honor God and given to the church". Also, the church has a set of altar candlesticks from 1869 that were made to replace the old candlesticks; these candlesticks, which are 46 cm. high in softwood, are in the church basement.
